Guillamón: "It was very important for us to start with the three points"
Hugo Guillamón was one of the key men in the victory for Valencia CF against Girona FC. In addition, the midfielder wore the captain's armband after replacing Carlos Soler, in a special moment for him.
An important win
It was very important for us to start by taking three points at home. This has only just started. We have to look ahead, and think about the game at San Mamés. This gives us a lot of morale, but we have to continue.
Dominating at home
It was what we wanted, to dominate games -above all at our stadium. It was difficult for us at the beginning, when we had a few doubts, but the team recovered, became more confident and dominated with the ball and with our pressing. The goal gave us confidence as well. Then, with the sending-off, we had to roll our sleeves up. The team were spectacular and the fans as well: They helped us a lot and gave us a lot of strength. This one is for them.
The fans
It is essential for us to feel the support of our fans. This was already seen the other day in training. It's amazing to have a fanbase like this.
Soler's effectiveness
Carlos is our penalty specialist and we trust in him a lot: Not only on penalties, he also gives us a lot everywhere on the pitch. We hope he continues like this.
His first captaincy
It was very special for me to wear the captain's armband for my boyhood club. It is something that is incredible, especially here at Mestalla. I will never forget it. It was also special to receive it from a great captain like Carlos.
